March 11 – Director of Fire Services – Gina Sweat

Director Sweat began her career with the MFD back in 1992. Continuously rising within the department from firefighter, driver, Lieutenant and Battalion Chief and since 2016 serves as the Director of Fire Services, the first female to attain this position.

Director Sweat is known as a communicator, an organizer and a very good problem solver!

February 19 – Barry Mitchell – HOPE WORKS

February 19th, 2020 Barry Mitchell from HOPE WORKS will function as our guest speaker. This organization specializes in providing encouragement to the poor by locating jobs for the underprivileged and stressing the potency of education and training. Adult education and courses pertaining to acquiring your GED are strongly promoted.

Bicycle Derby & Giveaway

05/19/20 marks the celebration of our BICYCLE DERBY at Keystone Elementary School. That event will draw the participation of the Memphis Police Department as well as the Memphis Fire Department. The Fire Department and the Police will share tips about safety, protection and citizenship with the young students.

The Sheriff’s Department will bring McGruff, the crime dog,  who imparts great advice about handling bullies and other issues pertinent to elementary school students.

Michael Bollinger- Bartlett Performing Arts Center -Feb 5th

Michael Bollinger, director of Bartlett Performing Arts Center, will share his experiences as well as his objectives concerning the Bartlett Performing Arts Center. His facility has drawn talented individuals from a wide spectrum of the fine arts: actors, musicians, comedians and vocalists. No doubt, Bartlett may claim great success in this endeavor.

Optimist Club Golf Tournament (TN Qualifying Event)

Join us as we host the Tennessee Qualifying event for the Optimist Club International Golf Tournament. Golfers from 10-18 are welcome as we tee-off June 3, 2020 at TPC Southwind.

Cary Vaughn – Love Worth Finding – Jan 29, 2020

Cary Vaughn, president of Love Worth Finding, will address us about the famous radio and TV ministry founded by Dr. Adrian Rogers in 1987. This ministry has met with exceptional success reaching 150 countries and countless listeners here in the USA as well as 150 foreign countries. Dr. Rogers exhorted his successors to continue this ministry and he composed a moving letter, published after his death, to perpetuate this radio and TV ministry with vigor and sincerity.

Target House Lunch – December 14, 2019

The Northwest Memphis Optimist Club will cook and serve the families of St. Jude patients who are staying at the Target House this Saturday December 14, 2019. Members and volunteers from the community are welcomed and asked to gather at Target House at 9:00 AM so cooking and preparation can begin with a serving time of 12:00.

Dec 18, 2019 – Harold Graeter – Associate Executive Director Autozone Liberty Bowl

Harold Graeter, Associate Executive Director, AutoZone Liberty Bowl will address the club December 18th. Harold compiled a successful record as a TV broadcaster at Channel 5 and thereafter affiliated with the Liberty Bowl. His energy and innovation have played a leading role in the impressive performance of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl which may boast of a success record surpassing five decades. Bigger and Better seem to describe the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

Heidi Kuhn

Dec 4, 2019 – Heidi Kuhn – Shelby County Court Clerk

Criminal Court Clerk, Heidi Kuhn, exhibits impressive credentials as a public servant.  Functioning as Executive Director of the Crime Victims Center, she strongly supported the rights of victims and performed ably in that capacity. Thereafter, she served as Deputy Director of Community Services which entailed responsibilities pertaining to victim and offender services as well as aging and veterans’ affairs. In addition, she met success as Director of Training for Shelby County and special assistant and top strategist to Sheriff Bill Oldham.
 
She acquired her undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico and a master’s degree from Christian Brothers University. Significantly, she functions as an adjunct professor for Christian Brothers University.
