About Ida:
Ida Notowitz Eleazer was born in Frankfort Germany, when her father Max Notowitz was in the US Army, serving in Military Intelligence. Her parents, Max and Fannie, brought her back to Memphis when she was one. They went on to have another daughter and two sons. Ida grew up in Memphis and graduated from White Station High School. It wasn’t until she was in high school that she knew anything about her father’s experiences before and during the Holocaust.
She is married, has one grown son and lives on a farm in Fayette County.
Ida began helping her Dad tell his story to schools and organizations when he was getting older and unable to tell it concisely. She had him interviewed and a documentary produced to preserve his story. After he passed away in 2017, she now tells his story so that others know what he went through losing his family and his youth at a young age.
