She joined the staff at Elmwood Cemetery in 1998. After 25 years\, she’s collected some interesting\, fun\, and sometimes bizarre stories to share about her journey to becoming the Executive Director of the most beautiful historic cemetery in Memphis\, Tennessee. Kim has published several articles and one book about Elmwood Cemetery. She is married to Memphis filmmaker and historian Willy Bearden.

DESCRIPTION:Max Notowitz\nTopic: Max Notowitz\, Story of Survival\, The Holocaust \nAbout Ida: \nIda Notowitz Eleazer was born in Frankfort Germany\, when her father Max Notowitz was in the US Army\, serving in Military Intelligence.  Her parents\, Max and Fannie\, brought her back to Memphis when she was one.  They went on to have another daughter and two sons.  Ida grew up in Memphis and graduated from White Station High School.  It wasn’t until she was in high school that she knew anything about her father’s experiences before and during the Holocaust. \nShe is married\, has one grown son and lives on a farm in Fayette County. \nIda began helping her Dad tell his story to schools and organizations when he was getting older and unable to tell it concisely.  She had him interviewed and a documentary produced to preserve his story.   After he passed away in 2017\, she now tells his story so that others know what he went through losing his family and his youth at a young age.

She has a degree from the University of Alabama in Criminal Justice and Sociology\, but found her passion working with the aging population. A lifelong Memphian\, Leigh states “Being a part of Plough Towers is very rewarding. To see the positive impact living here has for our residents is wonderful. Both our staff and our Board of Directors are always looking for ways that not only help residents get needed services\, but they also are seeking ways to give the ‘gravy’ that really gives our residents a quality life.”
